Pod size: 3-7 (1-25), small pods can gather in larger pods.
Newborn size: 1 meter
Adult size: 2-2,5 meter
Weight: 100-150 kg.
Some scientists thinks that this species just is a geographical variation of the Indo-Pacific Humpback Dolphin, but they have a different amount of teeths and vertebraes. It's most easily confused with the Bottlenosed Dolphin, but the large hump and relatively small dorsal fin, should make the Atlantic humpback Dolphin easy to distinguish. The species is known to help the fishermen at Cap Timiris in Mauretania, by guiding fish into their nets.
Behaviour:
Normally dificult to approach, and avoids crafts by diving and reappearing someway off, in another direction. Seldomly bowrides. Surfaces every 40. to 60. seconds, but can be submerged for several mnutes. Swims slowly. Can swim on the side and wave with it's flippers. Has been seen among Bottlenosed Dolphins.
